Limited access to preseason camp – especially in Starkville – can make it tough to analyze how teams are doing leading up to the start of the season. But Parrish and Logan give it a shot.
A few Rebels have gotten banged up (5:41), including starting tight end Dawson Knox. His foot injury has led to a shift in Jason Pellerin’s role at the position. A few other Rebels are in the concussion protocol but are expected to be cleared before the Sept. 2 opener against South Alabama, and coaches are being cautious with tailback Jordan Wilkins.
As for MSU, Dan Mullen recently spoke about last week’s closed scrimmage (10:08). He liked what he saw out of receivers Osirus Mitchell and Reggie Todd. On the defensive side, new coordinator Todd Grantham has made some tweaks to the linebackers’ roles, and he’s working to improve the Bulldogs’ pass rush.
Parrish and Logan also look at some players who have been surprises in camp, such as receiver DaMarkus Lodge of Ole Miss (17:13) and linebacker Willie Gay of MSU (22:03).
