Game week is finally here for Ole Miss and Mississippi State, and we’ve got full coverage from Parrish and Logan on this episode.
There are some questions facing MSU as it readies for Charleston Southern (2:58), such as how long wide receiver Malik Dear will be out of action, and which true freshmen will see the field. One of them who might play is QB Keytaon Thompson, who is Nick Fitzgerald’s only backup.
The Bulldogs do look solid in several areas, and there is hope that the defense will become a more reliable unit under new coordinator Todd Grantham (19:27).
As for the Rebels, they also have concerns as they prep for South Alabama’s visit (9:30). There was an unusual amount of coaching staff turnover this offseason, the free safety position remains unsettled, and a redshirt freshman, Donta Evans, is the starter at middle linebacker. There is plenty to like about the Ole Miss offense, though (15:46), including QB Shea Patterson and his stable of wide receivers.
Ole Miss knows it can’t mail it in against South Alabama, which stunned MSU to open the 2016 season. Parrish visits with USA defensive coordinator Kane Wommack – sone of former Ole Miss DC Dave Wommack – to discuss the matchup (24:23).
