It was a good weekend for Mississippi State and a very bad one for Ole Miss.
The Bulldogs thoroughly dominated Kentucky (4:43), with Nick Fitzgerald showing improvement in his passing. Ole Miss, meanwhile, not only lost to LSU, it lost starting QB Shea Patterson to a season-ending knee injury (8:24). That means juco transfer Jordan Ta’amu must step in, and he’ll do so having gotten curiously little playing time to this point.
In the LSU loss, the Rebels gave up nearly 400 yards rushing, and that area must improve (13:08). Up next is Arkansas, which has suffered its share of key injuries on offense (21:54).
MSU travels to Texas A&M this week (15:29). After a shaky start to the season, the Aggies are playing quite well, and it looks like Kevin Sumlin’s job is safe – for now. One big matchup to watch: A&M knows how to sack the quarterback, but MSU gives up very few sacks.
