Football is finally here. Mississippi State, led by first-year head coach Joe Moorhead, opens the season Saturday at home against Stephen F. Austin. Ole Miss will head to Houston to meet Texas Tech in a neutral-site game.
So of course, Parrish and Logan have plenty to discuss, like the fact that a surprisingly high number of SEC teams have yet to name their starting quarterback (2:55). A lot of SEC teams will open with intriguing neutral-site games, while others will start off easy against FCS opponents.
Such is the case for MSU, but Moorhead said he’s not taking Stephen F. Austin lightly (10:54). The Bulldogs will be playing without starting quarterback Nick Fitzgerald, who has been suspended one game for a violation of team rules. That means the offense is in the hands of Keytaon Thompson. A couple of other key players have been suspended as well.
Ole Miss has no suspensions and exits preseason camp mostly healthy (15:14). Parrish discusses the Rebels’ depth chart, which contains few surprises. He also previews the Texas Tech matchup and notes that Ole Miss really needs this win to set the tone for the 2018 season (20:27).
And Logan previews MSU’s opener, saying the Bulldogs must execute well and build confidence before traveling to Kansas State next week (22:31). He said he doesn’t expect any chemistry issues on offense with Thompson taking the snaps.
