The Mississippi State and Ole Miss men’s basketball teams both moved a little closer to earning NCAA tournament bids with big wins this past week.
Logan recaps MSU’s win against Alabama (8:37), which had beaten the Bulldogs in the teams’ previous meeting. Quinndary Weatherspoon had another big outing, and coach Ben Howland said it was the most complete game his team has played during his tenure.
Ole Miss beat Auburn for a second time (12:13), with the defense coming up huge. Parrish says the Rebels, currently 5-4 in SEC play, need to go 11-7 to solidify their postseason résumé.
While basketball season enters the stretch run, baseball season cranks up this weekend. MSU hosts Youngstown State, and it will be the debut of new coach Chris Lemonis as well as the newly renovated Dudy Noble Field (16:08). Ole Miss, meanwhile, opens at home against Wright State (20:26).
Also today, Parrish looks at what he calls the NCAA’s “toothless punishment” of the Ole Miss football program, which had to vacate several wins from the past few years (2:18).
